CANCELLED Books and Brushstrokes Program (Community Living) @ Main
Community Living, in partnership with Milton Public Library and the Town of Milton presents: Books and Brushstrokes.
Books and Brushstrokes is an 8-week learning and art experience with weekly 4-hour sessions.

Weeks 1-4 (March 20 and 27, April 3 and 10)
10:00-10:15am - Sign-in
10:15-12:00pm - Library Research Project
Use library resources, including print and online resources/laptops to complete a research project with support from a Librarian and CLNH staff. Present your findings to the group on the last week.
12:00-12:30pm - Lunch and Free Time
12:30-2:00pm - Learn to Paint class with Town of Milton Art Instructor
2:00pm - Sign-out
Week 5 (April 17)
10:00-10:30am - Sign-in and social
10:30-12:00pm - Cirque Kalabante Performance (FirstOntario Arts Centre of Milton - Mattamy Theatre)
12:00-1:00pm - Lunch and Free Time
1:00-2:00pm - Creative Connections with MPL
2:00pm - Sign-out
Weeks 6-8 (April 24, May 1 and 8)
10:00-10:15am - Sign-in

Arrival:
Participants to be dropped off (or take bus) and check in with CLNH staff at the Milton Public Library - Main Branch (1010 Main Street E/corner of Main and Thompson) between 9:30 and 10:00am. As this program is created for individuals who can be independent with only one CLNH Support Worker for 6 individuals, parents/family members/advocates do not attend.
Departure:
Participants to be picked up (or take bus) by 2:00 pm.
Transportation:
Transportation is available through Activan from Georgetown directly to Milton Arts Centre
Program Eligibility:
This program focuses on those who are capable of participating in activities in the community with a 1:6 ratio of staff to individuals (small group setting) and:
- who can be in the community with minimal supervision and without parent/family/advocate presence
- who are not prompt dependent
- who do not have significant behaviour or medical issues
- who are independent in toileting, eating, and other tasks
Please note: CLNH staff are not able to administer medication in this program.
Additional Support:
If an individual needs additional support over and above the support provided by CLNH staff, the individual can still participate in the activities that are open to the public if they provide their own support worker. In such cases, the individual registers through the Town of Milton Recreation Deptartment rather than through CLNH and the individual is not part of the CLNH program.
Fee for Service:
This program is eligible for payment through Passport funding.
