Creative Storytelling with Christy Jordan-Fenton In-Person
For children 8 - 12 years of age. Please note: Each child requires their own library card to register for programs.
Join author Christy Jordan-Fenton as she shares the story of her Inuvialuk mother Olemaun Margaret Pokiak-Fenton and her time at an Arctic Residential School through the stories written in Fatty Legs, A Stranger At Home, When I was Eight, and Not My Girl. Throughout this storytelling session, Christy explores how Indigenous children like Margaret Olemaun were forced to be their own heroes. This session is strengths-based and trauma-informed and suitable for youth whether this is an introduction to the indomitable spirit of Margaret Olemaun, or they are already familiar her stories.
