Closing the Garden Ceremony / Volunteer Appreciation

Closing the Garden Ceremony / Volunteer Appreciation In-Person

The closing of the Indigenous garden at Beaty Branch is a moment of reflection, gratitude, and reverence. It is an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate the garden's growth and harvest, acknowledge the wisdom of Indigenous peoples, and prepare for the garden's transition to a new season.

The community will participate in a smudge ceremony by Indigenous elders and knowledge keepers who will share their insights, stories, and teachings related to the garden and its significance. The harvest will be cut and burnt to give thanks to the spirts and ancestors who watch over the garden. We will also thank our hardworking volunteers, staff, and gardener who spent so many hours taking care of the garden this summer.  Invitations will be sent out to those who have volunteered in the garden this summer. Garden Volunteers please RSVP to Rami.Majeed@beinspired.ca.

The Beaty Branch of the Milton Public Library sits on lands of the Ajetance Treaty Number 19 held with the Mississauga of the Credit First Nation.
